Here’s one of the cleanest ES-150s I’ve seen come up for a while!
I acquired this guitar in Iowa from the nephew of the original owner. The OG owner did not play the guitar much, according to the nephew. The condition of this instrument certainly does seem to reflect that, with perfect frets and all of the glossy finish present on the back of the neck. When I got the guitar, I was amazed at the condition and originality, but I did have to have two minor items taken care of for the guitar to be perfect.
– The pickguard had deteriorated, as they nearly all do, so I ordered a reproduction from Joe Vinikow at archtop.com who in my opinion, makes the most attractive and correct looking guards for these guitars. The guard was a hair shorter than the original, so a small screw hole was added to make the pickguard fit correctly.
-There were two hairline cracks on the top. One right under the tailpiece, and one near the treble side of the pickguard extension. Both were professionally repaired and cleated. Luckily, both are in locations that are covered. One by the pickguards, and one by the tailpiece. Any other cracks you see are typical and attractive finish checking. One of the tuners has a slightly bent post, but functions great.
Otherwise, this guitar is nearly perfect!
-All original, with no finish overspray.
-Perfect frets, beautiful dark board in amazing shape.
-Excellent cosmetic condition for its age.
-Dead straight fat V shaped neck with a fantastic angle. Low action, no buzz, could easily bottom out the strings on the frets and still have room left on the bridge.
-Amazing sound with fully functioning electronics.
-Original case (has one broken hinge. Latches all working great.)
Thanks for looking! This guitar is truly a joy to play! No excuses on this one! All original with 10/10 playability! See Video! Currently set up with 12 gauge strings.
