Recently purchased from the great grandson of the original owner! WOW! This is perhaps one of the oldest single-family owned instruments we’ve ever had! This beautiful; Martin 1-21 from 1891 is truly a joy to play. It is light weight, super resonant and has a fantastic articulate sound when fingerpicked. We currently have it strung with 11 gauge silk and steel strings and it is taking them very well and sounding wonderful! The guitar currently has medium action with a little bit of saddle left to lower the action, but not a ton. A neck reset may be in its future if you require very low action. Comes with the original martin coffin case which has been refinished. The guitar is all original and is in wonderful shape. There are a few superficial surface cracks on the back that do not go through the entirety of the wood. They can only be seen under a certain light. All in all, this is a super clean and wonderful playing little Martin that is sure to please its new owner for decades to come. Ships promptly, pro packed and fully insured.
